"Education is not what the teacher gives; education is a natural process spontaneously carried out by the human individual, and is acquired not by listening to words but by experiences upon the environment. " "Maria Montessori observed that when children are allowed freedom in an environment suited to their needs, they blossom. After a period of intense concentration, working with materials that fully engage their interest, children appear to be refreshed and contented. Through continued concentrated work of their own choice, children grow in inner discipline and peace. She called this process `normalization' and cited it as `the most important single result of our whole work'." |
The Lincoln Learning Center is a year round Montessori preschool in Lincoln, CA, where enrollment is open all year long. We are located in one of the most historic buildings in Lincoln, on the corner of the McBean Wood Park. We are near downtown and open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Adrienne Holscher has been the owner/director since 1998 and has over 28 years of experience working with and teaching children.
Our ratios are kept low. We have two classrooms, the Prep class has two to three year olds and our Pre-k class has four to five year olds. We implement Montessori based curriculum. Montessori is both a philosophy of child development and a rationale for guiding such growth. It is based on the child's developmental needs for freedom within limits, as well as a carefully prepared environment which guarantees exposure to materials and experiences needed for Kindergarten and everyday life. Through this the child develops intelligence as well as physical and psychological abilities. It is designed to take full advantage of the child's desire to learn and their unique aptitudes at developing their own capabilities. In the Spring of 2009 we started our organic garden. The children assist every step of the way, and enjoy watching and learning about the cycles of the food we grow. We are excited to announce the addition of a greenhouse to our garden. It serves as a great outdoor classroom and was made possible in part by fundraising! We allow freedom within a structured environment, in a family like atmosphere. |
